SKU: PHD 015 600 Category:

One acoustic wave is a disturbance of the local pressure which is propagated, at constant speed, within a material medium.

This unit enables the study of the behaviour of these disturbances, or sound waves, within the air, with the different experiments:

• Reflection of a progressive wave on an obstacle.
• Refraction of a progressive wave within a medium.
• Diffraction of a progressive wave through one slot, one side or a hole. This experiment is carried out with ultrasounds for
wavelength scale convenience.
• Standing waves corresponding to the transmission of a progressive wave to one obstacle, in normal incidence. This reflected wave interfers with the incident wave to generate one wave called “standing wave”.
• Interferency to one source, such as Young’s slots & Fresnel’s mirrors. Experiments carried out with ultrasounds.
• Interferency to two sources for the study of the influence of phase, amplitude & beats. Experiments carried out with ultrasounds.
• Wave propagation inside the Kundt’s tube. This tube is a cylinder inside which an acoustic wave is transmitted by loud speaker.
One obstacle is generally located into the tube, in order to generate one cavity, & inside this cavity, a near-standing wave system prevails.

The kit includes :
Composition:

• 1 Kundt’s Kundt
• 2 microphones
• 2 amplifiers
• 2 loudspeaker (one of them can be adjusted to the Kundt’s tube)
• 1 dual ultrasound transmitter
• 1 microphone for ultrasound
• Set of mechanical modules : 2 benches with goniometric coupling, 1 set of plates and rods to create adjustable slit, dual slit, screen
