Actually, some isotropic transparent bodies, crossed by one rectilinear polarized monochromatic light beam, rotate the polarization plane aroud the beam propagation direction. Characteristics: 2 graduated circles : 0-180° 2 glass tubes : 100 mm and 200 mm, Ø 15 mm accuracy : 0.05° dimensions : 200x360x450 mm weight : 10 kg Light source : Sodium spectral lamp (589 nm) Power supply : 230 V - 50/60 Hz the polarimeter is composed of of one input polarimeter, one lens fitted on graduated rule and one housing for observation tubes, length between 5 to 20 cm, inside which the substances to be analysed are introduced. Delivered with two observation tubes : 10 & 20 cm, enabling to demonstrate that the rotation angle is proportionnal to the crossed thickness, for a given substance of concentration C.
